Cardiff has long been known for its vibrant and varied nightlife, but The Piano Works is pushing the tempo with a fresh, high energy twist. Located in the heart of the city (St Mary St), this live music venue is redefining entertainment with a packed calendar of themed events, interactive performances, and an atmosphere that’s equal parts party and performance.

Whether you’re looking for a lively brunch with friends or a chilled-out Sunday session, The Piano Works has something for every kind of night owl. Their iconic Bottomless Brunch includes 90 minutes of unlimited drinks alongside a mouth-watering two-course meal perfect for birthdays, celebrations, or just a weekend treat. And if you're not quite ready to call it a weekend, Roast and Rhythm Sundays offer a laid-back roast dinner experience soundtracked by talented musicians and soulful live bands.

“The Piano Works is an incredible high-energy live music venue where the artists play your requests all night long. Serving up delicious food, drinks and brunches” said management, and I must agree.

I recently attended their VIP launch night, and if the energy of that evening was anything to go by, Cardiff is in for something truly special. With singing waiters, floor-filling covers, and immersive performances, the venue offers more than just music. Their calendar is already brimming with events that span all throughout the week, meaning you never have to wait until the weekend for a good time.

Take Tuesdays, for example: ‘And We’re Rolling’ features solo pianists and live music from 6PM until midnight, pairing perfectly with the venue’s food and cocktail offerings. The vibe evolves throughout the week, each night offering its own flavour, and every moment shaped by audience interaction and on-the-spot song requests.

But it’s not just the events that make The Piano Works stand out, it’s the ethos behind it. Described by management as a space of “acceptance, creativity, and musicality,” the venue puts the power in the hands of the crowd. Guests can request songs throughout the night, and the musicians (armed with endless talent and genre range) bring those requests to life in real time.

This piano bar breaks from the traditional mold. The environment feels warm and buzzing with energy. Staff are engaging, the performers are versatile, and the crowd is as much a part of the show as the artists themselves. It’s clear to us that The Piano Works isn’t just another night out.
